For a large part of the year we need to feed hay to the animals or supplement their grazing because the grass quality is so poor. 
This can mean up to 3 hay bales a day costing £4.00 each at present. Will fluctuate depending on weather and harvest.
Due to very poor local hay and having so much spoilt or too dusty for Kes, we are trying the horses on haylage. More expensive but healthier and no dust to trigger the Copd.
We are doing everything we can to improve the land and drainage so that in future years there will be better quality grass and it will be healthier but it's a slow, costly process.
